Orange Downtown Alliance Committees
The following is a listing of committees. Participation on these committees is open to ODA members. Please call ODA at 540.672.2540 if you are interested in attending a meeting or serving on a committee. All ODA committees report directly to the Board of Directors and they work with ODA staff.
The committee oversees family friendly events and activities such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Downtown Halloween Trick or Treating, the Trashy Ribs & Blues Festival, the Cottage Tour, Dash for Trash, Kids Fun Run and the Farmers Market. All of these events are designed with the entire family in mind but with visitor and tourist participation welcomed.
The Design Committee aims to create a positive image of downtown Orange and maintain community pride in the central business district. The first thing a visitor notices about a shopping district is its appearance. The ODA has the support of several of our garden clubs whose members donate many hours making our town look better. Projects have included entranceway signage landscaping, tree pruning, planting of bulbs and perennials, sidewalk planters and the maintenance of several community gardens.
Business Development, renamed Economic Enhancement
All the efforts and good work of the ODA would not matter a bit if downtown Orange cannot support its existing businesses and attract new ones. The ODA works to strengthen downtown’s existing assets and to fulfill its market potential by improving the competitiveness of downtown merchants, providing retail and service training opportunities, accommodating new businesses, and publicizing unused space for housing, offices, or retail or cultural facilities.
The Partnership Committee is responsible for overseeing membership development efforts, and membership and organization policy. The committee must manage the financial and logistical aspects of the organization. That includes raising money, recruiting volunteers, and conducting the annual membership campaign.
